Marketing Update 3
Hi Everyone,
I recently enquired with www.cyrstone.net regarding their various Search Engine Optimization (SEO) packages. The package I was interested in (due to budget constraints) was $1750 for the initial setup, then ongoing monthly fees depending on the number of top 10 rankings on Google, Yahoo or Bing (free for less than 5 top rankings, then $250 or $300 per month).
I fired several questions at Crystone, as one of my main concerns is they didn’t rank on the first page of Google when searching for internet marketing, SEO packages, etc. After hearing back from Crystone, I’ve decided not to go with them. The catalyst question/answer is:
“I assume that some keywords would be very competitive. Are you able to give any indication on the likelihood of successful rankings prior to signing up?”
Crystone were more than happy to do the analysis for me prior to signing up, so I gave them 10 keyword phrases. The results came back with a probability guide, colour coded by likelihood of a top ranking, and the amount of effort required in link building to achieve the ranking. Unfortunately, hardly any of the exact keyword phrases I wanted were on the analysis, and the small number that were would require significant link building over an extended period – 12+ months. To get a high ranking, I would have to modify my web site and target my marketing to keywords which are not relevant enough for me.
So my issue is – I don’t want to spam the world with a link building exercise, as I know how much I dislike having advertising rammed down my throat. I would prefer my product to be good enough so people would want to talk about it.
Based on this, I will review my approach as I would prefer customers find Click Studios based on relevance – that is, more relevant than a deliberate link building exercise.
Please note that Crystone were very professional with their engagement with me, and with their offer, and I do appreciate their time.
Regards
Mark
